Doors Open MKE at The Allis
Swing by the Charles Allis Art Museum during Doors Open Milwaukee and step inside a beautifully preserved 1911 Tudor-style mansion filled with art, history, and character.

Hours: 12:00–5:00 PM both days

What to Explore
- The House & Collection: Wander wood-paneled rooms, stained glass, marble fireplaces, and period furnishings while viewing 19th–early 20th-century paintings and decorative arts—all reflecting Charles and Sarah Allis’s passion for art and design.
- Current Exhibitions:
- Human Condition: A Study of the Body — A community-based installation exploring the human form and its emotional landscape.
- Waves and Wings: Masterpieces in Motion — Winslow Homer’s coastal scenes alongside Bruno Ertz’s intricate bird studies.
- BIRD BODY by Hattie Grimm — Sculptural and painted reflections on instinct, sensation, and memory.

Join our Collections & Operations Manager for a quick insider look at the collection, exhibitions, and
ongoing preservation:
- 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM (15–20 minutes; small groups; first-come, first-served)

Charles Allis Art Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization enriching Milwaukee’s quality of life by creating opportunities for residents and visitors to experience history, culture, and the arts, in particular by offering vibrant exhibitions and performances in a stately and intimate urban mansion, which permanently houses the art collection of Sarah and Charles Allis.
